The Basics You Should Know

Why is it called a WEB? Because links can travel back and forth to different pages creating a web like effect rather than a linear arrangement.

Hyperlink (Link): A hot spot on a document (or image) which when clicked on will bring up another document (or image).

Insert Image: to place an image into your webpage.

jpeg or jpg: A type of image file which reduces image file size and is compatable with all web browser programs. Best for photographs and artwork with lots of color and subtle variations of color.

gif or giff: A type of image file which reduces image file size and is compatable with all web browser programs. Best for logos and images with flat color tones. Also can have transparent backgrounds A BIG DESIGN PLUS!

HTML: Hypertext Markup Language. Web page setup (marks) which allow browser programs to read as a webpage. Individual webpage files are saved with a .htm or .html ending from within a webpage building program.
